Milly's Journey
With CDI

Background

Milly was a 3-year-old girl facing significant developmental challenges when she first came to CDI. She was diagnosed with ASD Level 3 for social communication and Level 2 for repetitive behavior, along with global developmental delay, joint hypermobility, hypotonia, and sleep difficulties. Prior to joining CDI, Milly had undergone 5 months of OT and Speech Therapy without notable progress. At her sessions, Milly exhibited disinterest and reluctance, often staying in her pram.

Initial Assessment and Intervention

Upon her enrolment at CDI at 3 years and 1 month old, Milly’s developmental skills were akin to those of a 9 to 18-month-old. Her challenges included difficulties in imitating actions, inconsistently following instructions, and brief eye contact, among others. CDI’s approach began with 1:1 ESDM Clinics, focusing solely on Milly for 6 months. These sessions allowed her Key Worker to connect deeply with Milly, addressing her developmental goals with personalised care.

Skills now (age 4yrs)

“Milly was attending Speech and OT sessions for 5 months with very slow progress before starting at the CDI. Within a few weeks she was engaged and willing to participate in sessions, she was curious and started demonstrating new skills quickly. After 12 months of therapy, she is now interacting with children she meets and initiating play. My heart soars when I see her make new friends in the playground. I believe that CDI has played a major part in helping Milly develop confidence and communicative ability that means she can now participate more in life”
