Inclusion Coaching
Program

The Child Development Institute has developed a tailored mentoring and coaching program to help childcare centres and preschools overcome barriers to inclusion.

The aim of the program is to build the capacity of all Educators and children within the service both now and in future by providing sustainable tools and teaching practices to support inclusion.

Program Delivery

All CDI therapists delivering the Inclusion Coaching Program (ICP) are trained in the ESDM, a naturalistic play based intervention approach with a focus on managing behaviours, teaching strategies and inclusion strategies for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Developmental Delay.

In addition to ESDM training, each therapist delivering the ICP has a pre-existing qualification and extensive experience working in Early Childhood settings, providing them with practical knowledge to support children’s successful inclusion in their programs.

The Inclusion Coaching Program is delivered over a minimum of 12 weeks to ensure sustainable practices and strategies are developed and embedded into daily routines.

The CDI Therapist will visit the centre each week and work with the educators, using ESDM based teaching and behaviour management strategies in order to build their confidence to effectively include and support all children enrolled in the centre.

The program will be tailored to the needs of the centre and can include all staff workshops and mentoring sessions.
