Psychological Assessments

Maybe you’ve noticed that your child’s needs seem different from their peers. You may be wondering about specific learning differences or exploring the possibility of neurodivergence, like autism or ADHD. It is perfectly natural to feel uncertain and we are here to support you at every step.

Our team of compassionate psychologists take the time to understand your unique needs and gather a full picture before any formal testing begins.

Whether your doctor has requested an assessment as part of a diagnostic process, or a teacher has highlighted that your child’s behaviour, learning, or communication is different from their peers, we are here to offer our expertise and guidance. Our goal is to provide the clarity and support your family needs.

Call us for more information so we can provide individualised advice.

Our assessment services include:

What does the assessment process involve?

We start with an assessment interview to decide whether a full assessment should be pursued. This is a thorough discussion on what the process involves, why you are seeking an assessment and how we can help. If you go ahead with an assessment, the information gathered in the initial interview will form an important part of the assessment.

Our assessment services are delivered by a psychologist with experience and post-graduate training in assessment and diagnosis.

All our assessments include a comprehensive report, which is provided within four weeks of the assessment date.

Autism Diagnostic Assessment

We offer assessments for individuals ranging from toddlers to adults.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder. Autism is defined as deficits in social interactions, including verbal and nonverbal social skills (Social Communication) and unusual interests, repetitive behaviours, and unusual responses to sensory experiences (Restricted Interests / Repetitive Behaviours).

We use gold standard assessment tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule -– Second Edition (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview -– Revised (ADI-R). We will gather information from a variety of sources to ensure that we are providing the most appropriate conclusions.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Assessment

We provide assessments for children aged 8 years and older, as well as adults.

Attention Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is characterised by symptoms of inattention, impulsivity, and in some cases hyperactivity. ADHD can have lifelong impacts on individuals and families. A diagnosis and quality treatment can substantially improve individual outcomes.

AT CDI, our psychologists are trained to administer, diagnose, and report on ADHD, using gold-standard assessment tools.

Intellectual / Cognitive Testing

We offer assessment for children from preschool age to 16 years.

These assessments are useful in assessing for giftedness, intellectual disabilities, and specific learning disorders.

Are you curious about your child’s natural learning ability? Are you concerned that your child’s learning or behaviour does not seem to align with their potential?

By understanding your child’s cognitive strengths and challenges, you can ensure that your son or daughter gets the right support and the right opportunities. A comprehensive evaluation helps you and your child’s teachers create tailored strategies that support their academic and social success. It also highlights areas where additional resources, support, or interventions might be needed, ensuring your child has every opportunity to thrive.

AT CDI, our psychologists are trained to administer, diagnose, and report on intellectual functioning using gold-standard assessment tools.
